Ralph Edward "Ed" Lewis, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, known to some of his family as Butch, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ed was born September 30, 1949 in Ashland, Kansas, to William Jackson Lewis Sr. and Modena (Adams) Lewis.  He was raised and educated in Sedan, Kansas until his junior year of high school when he attended and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in Cedar Vale, Kansas in 1967.  Ed joined the United States Army on December 12, 1969 and proudly served his country during Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged on September 15, 1972.
He married Tina McKee in Sedan on June 15, 1974.  After his service in the Army, he worked in the oil fields before starting his 20-year long career at General Electric as a jet engine mechanic from 1989 until his retirement in 2009.  He was able to travel with his work and enjoyed being able to see the world.  Ed also enjoyed coin collecting, reading and tinkering in his shop with all things mechanical.
He is survived by his family including:
His wife:  Tina Lewis of Winfield;
His son: Darin Lewis and wife, Sabrina and their daughter, Ava Lewis of Winfield;
His daughter:  Vicky Lewis and spouse, Bryan Weeks and their children Lilly Jones, Braedyn Weeks and a son on the way, of Cheney;
His brother:  William J. Lewis Jr. and wife, Barbara of Westville, OK;
His nephews:  Justin and Troy Lewis and their families; and
His cousins:  Bob and Cecile Lewis and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Riley Memorial Cemetery east of Sedan, Kansas.  Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to benefit Ed's grandchildren's education.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
