Queen Esther Dean, 57, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at her home.
Born January 30, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Girtha Mae Jackson and Robert Mallet. She was raised and received her early education in Cape Girardeau, Missouri until moving to Topeka, Kansas, where she attended and graduated from Topeka High School. Following high school, she moved to Pennsylvania, where she met Darryl Dean.
Queen was united in marriage to Darryl Dean in 1996. The couple later returned to Topeka, before relocating to Winfield in 2002 where they made their home. Queen spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, animals, attending church functions, socializing with friends, and helping those that were down on their luck.
Her family includes her husband Darryl Dean of Winfield; her sons, Joseph Hollingsworth of Kansas City, MO; Anśuan Hollingsworth of Winfield; Ronald Slaton of Winfield; Juan Hollingsworth and fiancé, Aline Sivongxay of Winfield; Uncle Sonny; her grandchildren, Alexandra Bright, Briana Bright, Jávonte L. Hollingsworth, Saphira Hollingsworth, Acesa Mae Hollingsworth, Da'Ja Hollingsworth; her siblings, Barbara Williams, Gene Hollingsworth, Darlene Rodgers, Sara Tart, Jesse Hollingsworth, Rhodesia Hollingsworth, Kyle Hollingsworth; and multiple nieces and nephews that were like children to her.
In addition to her parents, Queen was preceded in death by her grandmother Annie Bell Jackson, her grandfather Hoarce Jackson, a sister Dorothy Jackson, and two nieces, Jessica L. Hollingsworth and Ashonia Hollingsworth, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at the Second Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Queen's name for the Second Baptist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
