Priscilla "Pixie" Black, 73,
of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2017 at her home.
Born October 2, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of Vencill and Betty (Hall) Lake. She was raised and received her education in Wichita graduating from Wichita North High School in 1961. Following high school, she began working as a Service Representative for the Social Security Administration.
Pixie was united in marriage to Leon Black on March 3, 1963 in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their first home in El Paso, Texas, where Leon was stationed with the United States Air Force. While in El Paso, Pixie continued working for the Social Security Administration. In 1965, the couple returned to Wichita. They established Black Machine Company in 1976. Pixie remained with Social Security until the early 80's when she became Office Manager at Black Machine Company. In 1986, the couple moved to a farm north of Winfield, Kansas, and commuted to Wichita to continue running the family business. In the early 1990's, Pixie returned to work for Social Security where she remained until retiring in 1999. After retirement, Pixie and Leon enjoyed camping, boating and taking motorcycle trips. She also enjoyed painting, baking pies, cooking, and volunteering at the Kansas Veterans' Home. She especially enjoyed attending her grandkids concerts and sporting events.
Pixie was a member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary in Winfield. She was also a Charter Member and Treasurer of the American Legion Riders in Winfield.

Her brothers: Vince Lake of Haysville; Jim Lake and wife, Davida of Wichita;
Her sister: Patty Smith and husband, Lynn of Wichita; and
Her four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pixie was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Pixie's name for Heartland Hospice in Wichita and the American Legion Riders Post #10 in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
