Phyllis Joy Hoyt, 91, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, October 31, 2022, at William Newton Hospital.

Phyllis was born to Frank and Bess (Johnston) Sandstrum on February 28, 1931, in Dexter. She was raised and educated in Dexter. After graduating from Dexter High School in 1949, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, and started working for Boeing.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Wendell D. Hoyt on June 24, 1951, at the Dexter Christian Church. After living in Wichita, the couple moved back to Dexter to reside. Phyllis went to work at Farmers State Bank and later retired from Union State Bank. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star and a member of the Dexter Christian Church. Wendell preceded her in death on July 26, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, her parents, and three sisters, and her brother.

She is survived by her daughter Vickie Henderson; her son Bob (Pam) Hoyt; her five grandchildren, Michael (Susan) Henderson; Roy (Jennifer) Henderson; Misty Hoyt; Katie Hoyt; Jenny Hoyt; and her six great grandchildren, Clayton Henderson, Brayden Henderson, Grace Henderson, Paiten Henderson, Rece Hoyt, and Kahleya Hoyt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Dexter Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 that evening.
