Phyllis J. Briggs, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2024, at her home.

Born July 8, 1943, in Sedan, Kansas, she was the daughter of Phillip L. and Mary E. (Rayl) Briggs.  She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1962.

In 1962, Phyllis began working at William Newton Hospital.  She remained with the hospital until retiring after over 40 years of service.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and uncles, Robert and Wilbur Rayl.

She is survived by her brother Roger Briggs (Katie Whitmer); niece Kristina Briggs; grand-niece MacKenzie Briggs-Tatum; grand-nephew William Tatum; and many close friends.

Private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Phyllis' name for the Winfield Public Library.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
