Obituary

Peggy K. Evans, 78, of Winfield, Kansas passed away on March 5, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Winfield, Kansas.

She was born February 27, 1933 in Augusta, Kansas and was the daughter of Joe and Angie Tague. She was the tenth of twelve children. Peggy was educated in schools in Augusta, Kansas; Alameda, California; and Winfield, Kansas. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1951.

She was united in marriage to Harry Evans, Jr. on June 3, 1951 in Winfield, Kansas.

Peggy began her working career as an Office Manager and Bookkeeper at M.B. Kerr Department Store. She later worked as the District Court Clerk in Winfield for almost 20 years, retiring in 1996.

Peggy had been an active volunteer for the Council on Aging, William Newton Auxiliary as a pink lady, the Cowley County Historical Museum, CASA of Cowley County, and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Business and Professional Women and the VFW Auxiliary. She was recognized in 2001 for the volunteer service she provided to the community.

Peggy and Harry enjoyed camping, bluegrass music, and being close to their family. She was a very active member of First Christian Church of Winfield. She was a devout Christian and had a very generous heart. She served in several capacities over the years at her church. She also loved to walk; she could be seen any time walking along our streets to her destination.

Survivors include:
Her children: Blain and wife, Susan; Bryce and wife, Vicki, all of Winfield; Sheryl Wright and husband, Gardner, of San Diego, California;
Her grandchildren: Brandon Evans, Travis Evans, Amber Dawn Liebau, Christy Reams, Jayme Evans, Ashley Wright, Trenton Wright, and Harrison Wright;
Eight great grandchildren;
Her brothers: Paul Tague and wife, Beverly; and Arthur Tague, all of Colorado, and
Her sister: Jo Anne McAdoo of Arkansas City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in May of 2005, her father, Joe Tague and mother, Angie Tague, her brothers, Charles and Raymond Tague, and her sisters, Leota Smith, Ann Burch, Louise Bunting, Fern Watson, Grace Bohannan, and Marie Tague.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Colonial Chapel at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may sign a register book at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday afternoon, from 3 to 5 P.M.

A Memorial has been established in Peggy's name for the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
