Peggy L. (Beard) Daniels, 82, of Winfield, passed away Friday evening, March 20, 2009 at the Kansas Veterans' Home.
Born on March 4, 1927 in Byron, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Otto E. and Kathryn "Kate" (Burris) Beard. She was raised and received her education in Byron, graduating from Byron High School in 1945. She later attended Cowley County Community College graduating with an associates degree in Mental Health.
Peggy was united in marriage to Archie "Ray" Daniels on December 15, 1944 in Cherokee, Oklahoma . Following Ray's honorable discharge from the United States Army the couple moved to rural Winfield. Peggy began working as a Licensed Mental Health Technician for the Winfield State Hospital and remained there for over 20 years until retiring in 1992. The couple also lived in the Rock and Wilmot areas before moving to Winfield in May of 2000. Mr. Daniels preceded her in death on June 25, 2007.
Peggy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winfield, the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved quilting, and was a master of embroidery work. She also loved singing and could harmonize with the best of them

Her sons: Dennis Daniels and wife, Jennifer of Annadale, VA; Bill Daniels and wife, Patti of Winfield;
Her daughter: Dianne Renfro and husband, Ralph of Chase, KS;
Her sister in laws: Betty Markley of Winfield; Eva Beard of Anthony, KS;
Her grandchildren: Thomas, Carter, Katie, Krystyn, Vondell, Mitch and Garrett; and
Her great-grandchildren: Evan, Tyler, Shayla, Griffin, Isabel and Jaden.
In addition to her parents, and husband Peggy was preceded in death by a brother Bill Beard, and a sister Faye Beard Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Akron Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday March 23, 2009. The family will greet visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. that evening.
A memorial has been established in Peggy's name for the American Cancer Society and the Kansas Veterans' Home . Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
