Pearl Willa (Early) Holt, 106, formerly of Cambridge, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.

Pearl was born August 24, 1912 on the family farm, 11 miles southeast of Dexter, Kansas, to William and Catherine Early. Pearl attended grade school at Prairie Eagle before moving to Winfield to live with her oldest brother and wife, John and Tessia Early and attend high school.

Pearl married Emberson Holt of the Prairie View community west of Atlanta on September 1, 1930. The couple lived in the Prairie View community until 1946 when they moved to Cambridge, where they raised their three children. She was a homemaker until their last child graduated from high school. She then went to work at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center until retirement. Emberson preceded her in death on February 8, 1977.

Pearl enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, cooking, and especially enjoyed getting together with family on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Survivors are two sons, Lawrence Holt and wife, Kathleen of Wichita; Norman Holt of Dexter; four grandchildren, Tina Merryfield, Malia Barnthouse and husband, Jim, Roger Holt and wife, Robin, and Mick Holt and wife, Lisa; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pearl was preceded in death by a daughter Faye Maxine Anello on October 7, 1990, two brothers, John Early and David Early, and three sisters, Jessie Beuoy, Mary Hatteberg, and Ruth Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Employees Christmas Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
