Obituary

PAULINE McCOY, 92, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Sunday morning, September 7, 2014 at William Newton Hospital.

Born December 16, 1921 in Morrilton, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Harry and Lena (Hainley) Charton, the 4th of 12 children. She was raised and received her education in Morrilton, graduating from Morrilton High School.

Pauline was united in marriage to Ovan McCoy on February 17, 1946 in Morrilton. After they married, the couple lived in Oregon and Oklahoma before moving to Winfield in 1956. Pauline worked several jobs throughout her life but always felt taking care of her family was her most important role. Ovan preceded her in death on March 30, 1982.

Pauline was a member of the Church of Christ in Winfield. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Her son: Gaylan McCoy and wife, Pixie of Winfield;
Her daughter: Rochelle Westerhaus and husband, Steve of Pratt, KS;
Her grandchildren: Elizabeth Westerhaus of Pratt, KS; Maggie Meredith and husband, Shaun of Huntingtown, MD; and Garrett McCoy of Manhattan, KS;
Her great grandson: Jeremiah Westerhaus of Pratt, KS;
Her brothers: Howard Charton; Jim Charton and wife, Sharon; Tom Charton and wife, Martha; and brother in law, Lloyd Dunlap;
Her sisters: Christine Williams; Kati Elliott and husband, Lee; and sister in law, Marie Charton.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Little and husband, Thomas Little, brother Clarence Charton and wife, Ruby Charton, Sister, Dorothy Dunlap, sister, Wilma Burroughs and husband, Arthur, brother, Bud Charton and wife, Vernie Charton, brother, Toke Charton and brother in law, Floyd Williams.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. McCoy's name for the Church of Christ in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
