Paulette Raye Rush, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at her home.
Born March 21, 1946 in Cedar Vale, Kansas, she was the daughter of Earl G. and Gladys Mae (Gordon) Kerr. She was raised in Cowley County, attending and graduating Dexter High School. She then attended Cowley County Community College and later, Southwestern College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Paulette was united in marriage to Alan R. Rush on June 13, 1965 at Hicks Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Dexter, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Topeka and later moved to Arkansas City and finally made their home in Winfield. Mrs. Rush worked as a secretary for Southwestern College before beginning her career with the Walnut Valley Association as an Executive Secretary. She worked there for 35 years, retiring in 2017.
Paulette was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women, Chancel Choir and the Seekers Sunday School class. She was also an active member of the Prairie Ridge Mothers Club, the Winfield Oratorio Society and the Jaycee Janes.

Her grandchildren: Zachery Vaden and wife, Chanelle; Hunter Rush; Adam Rush; Alyxandra Rush; Jason Foust and fiancé, Katrina Cavin; Dirk Foust and wife, Shawna; Gage Hunt; Brianna Hunt; and
Her great grandchildren: Aiden Vaden, Wesson Vaden, Evelyn Elston, Daileigh Foust, Avery Foust, Damon Arnold, Jevin Foust, Sydney Cavin, Boston Foust, Lilah Cavin, Jerin Foust and arriving this spring, Ella June Foust.
In addition to her parents, Paulette was preceded in death by a brother, David Kerr.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church. Private graveside services will be held at Maple City Cemetery at a later date. The family requests service attendees dress casual or wear a Walnut Valley Festival t-shirt or tie dye t-shirt to show support of the many years Paulette was involved in the festival. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, March 2 from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Paulette's name for Grace United Methodist Church and the ALS Research Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
