Paul Autry Ringgold, 82, of Arkansas City, Kansas, formerly of Emporia, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
Born June 11, 1932 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Paul Lloyt and Elsie (Long) Ringgold. He was raised and received his education in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School. After school he joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country in the Korean War. Following the war he received his honorable discharge and returned to Ponca City.
Paul was united in marriage to Geraldine Shoup on June 17, 1962, at the United Brethren Methodist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Ponca City where Paul went to work for Chickasha Mobile Homes. He later worked for General Electric and in 1967 the family moved to Arkansas City, Kansas. In 1968 he was transferred to California and remained with GE until 1972 when they returned to Arkansas City. In 1980 they moved to Emporia, Kansas and he began working for Iowa Beef Processing, where he remained until retiring in 1986. In 2000 Paul and Geraldine moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma and in 2013 moved to Dexter, Kansas.
He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work, reading, horseshoes, and playing Whahoo.

His daughters: Patricia McCullough and husband, Allen of Americus; Eva Lang of Arkansas City; Stephanie Ringgold-Burks and husband, Mike of Newkirk, OK; and
His 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Gwen Leake, his grandmother, Bessie Butler, and his granddaughter, Brandie Owen.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
