Obituary

Pamela Lane Toon, 65, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, January 4, 2009 at her home.

Born on May 30, 1943 in San Diego, California, she was the daughter of Duane and Ona Mae (West) Gere. She was raised and received her education in San Diego.

Pamela was united in marriage to Thomas E. Toon on November 19, 1960 in San Diego, California. The couple made their first home in Wichita, Kansas and later moved to Winfield in 1962. They remained in Winfield until they moved to the family farm in Burden in 1979. Pamela helped farm as well as working as a bookkeeper for some of the family business. Her primary work was as a homemaker raising the couples' five children.

She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church. Pamela enjoyed crafts, canning, and reading.

Her husband: Tom Toon of the home;
Her sons: Tim Toon and wife, Julie of Winfield; Joe Toon and wife, Candy of Burden; and Thomas James Toon of Burden;
Her daughters: Karon Toon of Winfield; and Tambra Toon of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Haley Golightley, Josh Golightley, and wife, Sam, Rob Golightley, Jordan Toon, Chance Toon, Jamie Toon, Jessica Toon, Grace Toon, Patrick Toon, and Michael Toon all of Winfield; and Lane Toon, Garrett Toon, Shay Toon, Josey Toon and Trace Toon all of Burden; and
Her great-grandchild: Aiden Golightley of Winfield, KS.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents and her mother and father-in-law.

A Celebration of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2009. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 7. The family will greet visitors from 3:00 to 5:00. The Rosary will be recited that evening at Holy Name Catholic Church at 7:00 P.M.

The Winfield Knights of Columbus will provide a luncheon for family and friends at the Holy Name Parish Hall following interment.

A memorial has been established in Pamela's name for the Holy Name Catholic School Library Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
