Obituary

Oney K. Timmis, 78, of Udall, Kansas, joined the Lord in Glory Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018 at her home.

Born October 3, 1939 in Hominy, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Jesse and Flora (Big Eagle) Haney. She was raised a proud Hominy Buck, graduating from Hominy High School in 1957. She then took business courses in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Oney was united in marriage to Jim Timmis on February 21, 1959 in Hominy, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Hominy before moving to Waurika, Oklahoma and later Altus, Oklahoma. In 1965, the family relocated to Mulvane, Kansas and in 1970, they settled in Udall, Kansas. Oney enjoyed being a homemaker, raising the family's three daughters. She later worked as a rural mail carrier for several years, retiring in 1995. Mr. Timmis preceded her in death on July 5, 2017.

She was a very active member of the Udall United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher. She was also very active in the United Methodist Women working with Mission Education Tours. She served as Community Leader of the Udall 4H Club. She was very proud of her Native American heritage and remained active in the Native American Church. She enjoyed fishing trips to Branson with her husband, Jim, and other family members.

Her family includes:
Her children: Terry Kater of Pawhuska, OK; Toni Eder and husband, Joel of Sharon Springs; Amy Banzet and husband, Craig of Rose Hill;
Her grandchildren: Jim Hopper and wife, Jonna, Jess Hopper and wife, Caroline, Jami Eder, Jett Eder, Jordan Eder, Jena Eder, Brandi Banzet, Dani Banzet; and
Her 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Oney was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Native American funeral services will be held at 8:00 A.M., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the home, 8910 1st Rd in Udall, Kansas. Church services will follow at 10:00 A.M. at the Udall United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Ninnescah Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Friends and family may call at the home in Udall anytime beginning Wednesday evening until service time on Saturday morning.

Memorials have been established in Oney's name for the Udall Volunteer Fire Department and Heartland Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
