Obituary

Onettia "Neta" Fern Eastman, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, received her beautiful white dress with golden glitter wings and halo on Thursday, August 22, 2019.

Neta was born May 28, 1939 in Manchester, Oklahoma to George "Bill" Billy Daniel and Alice Rosettia (Harmon) Shelton. She was raised and educated in the Oklahoma and Kansas areas. Neta was born third of ten children. As a teenager, Neta worked for a local restaurant.

She married Jack R. Eastman in Enid, Oklahoma on August 16, 1957. The couple made Winfield their home. From this union, four children were born. Neta was a homemaker for many years and she loved to sew. Her older children wore many matching items, shirts and dresses. She sewed many of her own clothing, from suits made from polyester, wedding gowns, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. She also enjoyed Tole painting and had numerous collectible items.

In 1980, Neta started making frilly little girl dresses and sold them at local craft fairs. Neta was an Avon consultant. She went to work for USD 465 in the food service department in 1975, where she worked until 2002 when she was forced to quit due to health. Neta remained active with family events and travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mary Bellew and Dorothy "Dot" Gray, her father and mother-in-law, Leo and Thelma Eastman, two sisters-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Smith and Peggy "Peg" Gray, a brother-in-law Donald "Donnie" Eastman, and a son-in-law David Lowe.

Her survivors include her husband Jack of the home; four children and their spouses, Jack R. Eastman, Jr. and wife, Mary of Oxford; Brenda Lowe of Winfield; Rodney A. Eastman and wife, Charity of Winfield; Tamara D. Lemon and husband, Billy Bob of Winfield; her siblings, Phyllis Hale of Winfield; Billie Young and husband, Jerry of Winfield; Jim Shelton and wife, Denise of Idaho; Rex Shelton and wife, Cheryl of Winfield; Virginia "Ginney" Finney and husband, Lonnie of Arkansas City; Linda Fitzgerald and husband, Lael of Udall; Rita Nellis and husband, Herb of Newkirk, OK; Twelve grandchildren, Justin, Chance, Katelyn, Haley, Carley, Kirsta, Brandon, Lucretia, Brent, Savannah, Gabrielle, McKia as well as 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2:30 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
