Ogureta L. Horrocks, 103, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 23, 2022, at Cumbernauld Village.

Ogureta was born in New Salem, Kansas to Irvin and Ora Orand. She was reared and educated in the New Salem area.

Ogureta was united in marriage to Harry Horrocks on January 11, 1936, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Winfield on August 1, 1937. Through this marriage they had two daughters, Shirley and Beverly. Harry and Ogureta celebrated 67 years of marriage before Harry's death on April 26, 2003.

Ogureta was a familiar face to many people in the Winfield area, having been employed by Peerless Bakery, Safeway, Winfield Chamber of Commerce, JCPenney, Walker Grocery, Woods Grocery, and the William Newton Memorial Hospital Snack Bar. She joined the First Christian Church in 1952, and was a "crafter" there for many years. She became a member of the Colfax Rebekah Lodge in 1950 and received a special 50 year recognition for her faithful membership.

Survivors include her daughter Beverly Dandurand (Bob); two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and one surviving brother Don Orand.

In addition to her parents, Ogureta was preceded in death by spouse Harry; brothers, John and James Orand, sisters, Beulah Stephens, Pat Payne, and Marjorie Fox, daughter Shirley Gould, grandson Brad Gould, granddaughter Sonyia Sphar, and great-grandson Seth Gould.

A visitation and viewing is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family graveside funeral services will follow at New Salem Cemetery

A memorial has been established in Ogureta's name for Good Shepherd Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
