Octavio "Odie" Dominguez Carrasco, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at William Newton Hospital.
He was born to Pedro and Nicolasa (Dominguez) Carrasco on September 23, 1952 in Manuel Benavides, Chihuaua, Mexico. Octavio moved to Winfield, Kansas in 1973 and started working for Santa Fe Railroad where he remained until he retired in September of 2012.
He married Debra King in April 1980 and they had four children together. He performed in a band for several years and loved hunting, fishing, dancing, gardening, bingo, and spending time with family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debra Carrasco of Winfield; his kids, Nicolasa Bogle and husband, Steven of Oxford; Cristina Carrasco of Winfield; Octavio David Carrasco of Winfield; Raquel Carrasco of Oxford; his brothers, Juan Carrasco of Winfield; Carlos Carrasco of Mexico; Jose Carrasco of Mexico; Ramon Carrasco of Colorado; his sisters, Guadelupe Carrasco of Florida; Maria Tarin of Winfield; Gloria Perez of Newkirk, OK; Elisabet Sandovol of Midland, TX; his grandchildren, Anastasia Acosta, Lillian Hongphakdy, RiQuandrion Mangum, R'Reonté Mangum, Magdalena Gardea, Noel Gardea, Yasmin Gardea, Adriel Carrasco, Alyvea Bogle, Yacinia Gardea, Amiyah Carrasco, Alija Bogle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Octavio was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father-in-law James King, and brothers, Manuel, Cecilio, Fermin, Pedro, and Roberto Carrasco.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Octavio's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
