NORMAN CROUSE, 72, of Winfield, passed away early this morning, Friday, August 15, 2008, at Good Samaritan Society.

Born on February 4, 1936, in Silverdale, Kansas, he was the son of Frank and Nellie (Barnes) Crouse. He was raised and educated in the Silverdale and Arkansas City area, and moved to Derby where he graduated high school in 1954.

Norman was employed by Cessna Aircraft after graduation in 1954 and retired after 40 years on November 1, 1994. He was united in marriage to Nelda Rowe in Wellington, Kansas on May 8, 1959. After marriage, the couple made their home in Winfield.

Norman was a member of the Millington Street Baptist Church as well as the International Association of Machinist Lodge number 774. He was a former member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, arm wrestling, country music, tractors, the outdoors and all kinds of animals, especially dogs and mules. He also enjoyed companionship with his family and friends.

His daughter: Carolyn Bruner and husband, Mark of Winfield;
His sisters-in-law: Betty, Mary, Jean, and Jerry;
His brothers-in-law: Bill Rowe, Carl Rowe, John Asbury and Richard Sutton; and
Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his daughter, Carlene Vongbolikhanh in 1997, his four brothers, Fred, Forrest, Ernie and Paul, and his sisters-in law, Norma Jean Asbury, Norma Rowe, and JoAnn Sutton.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City.
