Norma "Jean" Wood, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, June 23, 2014 at the Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.
Born November 20, 1933 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Jones) Fiensy. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1951.
Jean was united in marriage to Keith M. Wood on April 19, 1952 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Jean began working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. When the couple began their family in 1954 Jean became a fulltime mother and homemaker. Once the children were raised, she went to work for Shoe Mart, where she remained until her retirement. Mr. Wood preceded her in death on February 15, 2012.
She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Winfield and enjoyed being part of the Hallmark ladies, making arts and crafts with other women of the church. She enjoyed reading and cross stitching, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her son: Martin Wood and wife, Pam of Colorado Springs, CO;
Her daughter: Lori Roths and husband, Benny of Arkansas City, KS;
Her 4 grandchildren: Michelle and Megan Wood, Dallas Roths and wife, Aubrey, Jamie Larson and husband, Luke; and
Her great grandchildren: Landon and Jaycie Larson.
In addition to her parents and husband Jean was preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruth Majors and Betty New.
Memorial services will be held on Friday morning, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A Private family inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established in Jean's name for the Winfield Food Pantry and for the Winfield Public Library. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
