Norma Jean McDade, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, March 14, 2015 at Cumbernauld Village.

Born April 19, 1929 in Cowley County, she was the daughter of Reuel Fulton and Hildreth Marie (Ritchey) Calvin. She was raised and educated in Winfield, attending Walnut Valley Grade School and graduating from Winfield High School.

She was united in marriage to Jackie "Jack" McDade on April 29, 1945 in Newkirk, OK. The couple made their home in Winfield. Norma worked at Davis Paint Store in Winfield and later went to work for JC Penny's. She worked at Penny's for 33 years before retiring. Mr. McDade preceded her in death on June 14, 2009.

Norma was a member of First Baptist Church many years ago. She was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church for 60 plus years as well as the United Methodist Women. She was a 4H leader for many years. Mrs. McDade was a master gardener and loved to cook. She was one of the first to cook at the church's food booth when Bluegrass began.

Her sons: David McDade of Burden; Richard McDade and wife, Pam of Winfield; Dennis McDade and wife, Jana of Winfield;
Her daughters: Connie Adamson and husband, Gary of Three Rivers, MI; Marcia McDade and husband, Randy of Summerfield, FL; Janice McDade of Ponca City, OK;
Her 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Glenn and Harold Calvin, sister Ruby Arlene Shepherd and twin siblings Royce Calvin and Joyce Calvin Huntzinger, and her grandson, Kevin Dean.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Akron Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A Memorial has been established in Norma's name for the Tisdale United Methodist Church Gym Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
