Obituary

Nona Mae Byler Carpenter, 79, of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2022, at her home.

Nona was born May 11, 1943, in Lunenburg, Arkansas, the daughter of Clara and Marshel Byler. She graduated from Chelsea High School in 1961 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, and attended LPN School of Nursing at Jane Phillips Episcopal Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she worked from 1965 to 1973. She moved to the Joplin area in 1973 and worked for 28 years at St. Johns Hospital as an Operation Room Tech, until she retired in June 2002.

Nona is a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. She and Dale Carpenter were married on February 14, 1974.

Survivors include her husband Dale of Joplin, MO; two daughters, Mari Simpronio and husband, Mark of Pittsburg, PA; Toni Goodwin of Joplin, MO; six grandchildren, Robert Yucius, J.J. Simpronio, Kiley Simporonio, Gavin Goodwin and wife, Katie, and Garett Goodwin; great grandchildren, Landon Yucius and Gwenna; and two sisters, Caroline Harris and husband, Bill of Richmond, CA; Geraldine Byler of Pryor, OK.

In addition to her parents, Nona was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Kenith Byler.

A private graveside service will be held at Union Graham Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Nona's name for the Parkinson's Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
