Nina "Kay" Racker, 72, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Monday evening, February 8, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born October 6, 1948 in Wichita, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Lola Mae Parker. Kay was raised and received her education in Argonia, graduating from Argonia High School. Following high school, Kay moved to Winfield to continue her studies at Southwestern College. Kay married Kent Whitmore, and the couple had two daughters, Shelly and Keri. They later divorced. She spent her time working at the Winfield State Hospital. Kay enjoyed playing bingo, making rice bags to give away to others, and being with friends and family.
Kay was united in marriage to Warren E. Racker on April 22, 1999 in a private ceremony in Lawrence. On May 15, 1999, the couple renewed their vows in front of family and friends in Belknap, KS. They made their first home in Lawrence and later settling in Winfield. Warren preceded her in death on April 23, 2009, the day after their 10-year wedding anniversary.
Kay is survived by her daughters, Shelly Whitmore of Winfield; Keri Whitmore of Winfield; her step-son Michael Whitmore of Oklahoma; her step-daughter Cindy Grass and husband, Andy of St. Louis, MO; her brother Dennis Keith Parker of Wichita; her grandchildren, Alexa Flora; Jessamyn Perin; Audrey Yingling; Logan Yingling; Kristian Yingling; Alexander Grass; her great-grandson Carter Adams; and her best friends, Marylin and Russell Wedd.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Parker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private interment will take place at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
A memorial has been established in Kay's name for the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
