NEWELL E. MCCORKLE, 72, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Monday morning, March 17, 2014 at Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Born on June 21, 1941 in Wellington, Kansas, he was the son of Guy B. and Alice M. (Jarboe) McCorkle. He was raised and received his education in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1960.
As a young man he was employed at the Sunrise Dairy in Winfield. N.E. also worked in a mobile home manufacturing business. He was also employed at Learjet, Beech Aircraft and Boeing Aircraft working as an air mechanic and in the sheet metal department, retiring in 1997.
He was united in marriage to H. Joyce Phillips in 1961 in Winfield. She preceded him in death in 1978.
N.E. married Donna Voth on February 15, 1985 in Winfield and he owned and operated McCorkle Reloading and Gun Supply Repair.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. Newell also belonged to the Kansas Trapshooting Association, the American Trapshooting Association and the Pacific International Trapshooting Association. N.E. enjoyed spending time with his family, trap shooting, fishing, hunting and watching western movies.
His family includes:

His daughters: Micki McCorkle and husband Ed Friesen of Derby, KS; Terri Dalenta of North Brook, IL; Nancy Key and husband Joseph of Winfield, KS; and Niki Carroll and husband Adam of Winfield, KS;
His sister: Lucille Wickson and husband Jack of Maricopa, AZ;
His grandchildren: Cameron, Phillip, Rebecca, Brooke, Cole, Alexander, Jessica, and Jalynn; and
His dog: Ida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Joyce.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and the family will greet friends during that time.
Memorials have been established in N.E.'s name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and the Evergreen Trapshooting Youth Club in Little Rock, Washington. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
