Neva M. Hoskins, 100, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 13, 2016 at her daughters home in Cedar Vale, Kansas.

Born April 9, 1916 on a farm near Codell, Kansas, she was one of seven children born to William A. and Percie (Peirson) Smith. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Codell High School in 1935.

Neva was united in marriage to Arden Hoskins on August 18, 1938. They lived in Nebraska for four years until Arden was called into service of his country. Neva and their son Norman stayed with her parents until Arden returned in 1945. The family moved to Wilmot in 1947 where their daughter Linda was born. In 1966 they moved west of Arkansas City then to a house south of Leon in 1969. They lived south of Leon until Arden retired. The couple then moved to Winfield in 1984. Mr. Hoskins preceded her in death on December 15, 1993.

She was a member of Wilmot Christian Church, where she was active as a Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. She loved gospel songs and was part of a quartet with her husband. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and loved her family, baking goodies for them and her friends.

Her family includes:
Her daughter: Linda Bowman and husband, Curtis of Cedar Vale;
Her brother: Lee Smith of Codell;
Her sister: Ellen Hockett of Codell; and
Her four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Neva was preceded in death by her son Norman Hoskins, a sister Ruby, and three brothers, Howard, Arthur, and Roy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 19, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Union Graham Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5. The family will greet visitors that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Winfield Food Pantry or to Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
