NELLIE "LOUISE" (RIGGS) BARNTHOUSE, 85, of Brandon, Mississippi, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, November 1, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Born April 23, 1925 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Clay And Clara (Marts) Riggs. She was raised and educated in Winfield. As a young adult, Louise worked at Ruppelius Jewelry Store.

She was united in marriage to William T. "Bill" Barnthouse on August 30, 1943 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ridgewood, New Jersey, Memphis, Tennessee and later, Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in Tulsa, Louise worked at Burkhart's Office Supply. Bill preceded her in death on September 21, 1997.

Louise was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Winfield.

Her son: Mark Barnthouse and wife, Julie of Brandon, Mississippi;
Her sister: Margie Briscoe;
Her grandchildren: Jessica of Birmingham, Alabama; and Todd of Starkville, Mississippi; and
Many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, Divie, Howard and Bob and her sisters, Virginia Reagan and Rowena Archambeau.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Louise's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
