Obituary

Nelda I. Haskins, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2026 at the Kansas Veterans Home.

Born June 14, 1948, in Harper, Kansas, she was the daughter of James Sr. and Gladys (Bauer) Snyder. She was raised and received her education in Argonia, Kansas and was in the Argonia High School class of 1966.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold L. Haskins on March 17, 1966, in Argonia, Kansas. The couple had three daughters, Julie, Rhonda, and Rachel. Nelda became a nurse at the age of 34 and retired when she turned 62. Harold preceded her in death on April 6, 2016.

Nelda was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Winfield. She enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles, and collecting bells, angels, and clowns.

She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Swanson and husband, James of Winfield; Julie McMullin and husband, Mark of Wellington; Rhonda Day and husband, Craig of Wellington; and her ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nelda was preceded in death by her brother James Snyder Jr. her sister, Kathleen Snyder, her stepsister, Myrtle Thigpen, and her stepbrother, Wayne Sipult.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday August 15, 2026 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. Interment will be at the Argonia Cemetery. A visitation and viewing is scheduled at the church on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 A.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Nelda’s name to defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
