Nancy Joan Rockwell, 75, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her home.

Born May 4, 1948, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Rollin and Golda (Moore) Bohannan.  She was raised and received her education in Cedar Vale, graduating from Cedar Vale High School in 1966.  Nancy married Arthur Wonser and the couple had three children.  They later divorced.

She later married Roger Rockwell and Mr. Rockwell preceded her in death.  Nancy worked at Hilltop Cafe and owned and operated Nancy's Cafe in Cedar Vale.  She worked at the Cedar Vale Nursing Home and was a Dietary Aide at the school.  Nancy enjoyed bowling.  She was the best grandma and was a self-designated babysitter.

Her family includes her daughters, Michele Housel and husband, Stephen of Cherryvale; Betsy Carroll and husband, Chris of Burbank, OK; her siblings, Loel Bohannan and wife, Mica of Winfield; Joyce Samuels and husband, Don of Winfield; Jimmy Bohannan and wife, Phyllis of Claremore, OK; Barbara Huster and husband, Kenny of Newkirk, OK; Linda Pontious and husband, Lee of Shildler, OK; Keith Bohannan of Cedar Vale; her grandchildren, Matt Wonser and wife, Crystal of Independence; Devin Windsor and wife, Valerie of Loudon, TN; Chris Wonser and wife, Alyssa of Arkansas City; Shanele Edwards and husband, Cameron of Liberty; Dennon Windsor and wife, Morgan of Sioux Falls, SD; Tim Wonser and wife, Sara of Wellington; Kaden Housel and wife, Taylour of Salina; her great grandchildren, Zak Al-Bureni, Landon Windsor, Collin Wonser, Madalynn Wonser, Ava Windsor, Hayslee Edwards, Blakely Edwards, Wyatt Wonser, Ella Wonser, Lily Windsor, Elijah Wonser, Paige Wonser, Jemalee Edwards, Kolter Housel, and Jesse Wonser; and her K9 companion Molly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a son Jesse Wonser, two sisters, Anna Conley and Kathy Kirchner and a brother Mike Bohannan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at the Cedar Vale Baptist Church.  Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.  A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Sunday, October 29, from 2 to 5 P.M.  The family will greet friends during this time.

A memorial has been established in Nancy's name for AWOL Humane Society in Independence.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
