Obituary

Nancy Alyce Miller, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, March 7, 2017 at her home.

Born April 28, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Paul William and Violet Zola (Hoffmann) Stenstrom. She was raised and received her education in Oak Park, Illinois and graduated from Oak Park-River Forrest High School in 1952. After graduation she moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to attend John Brown University. In 1956 she graduated with a degree in English.

Nancy was united in marriage to Ralph F. Miller in June of 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. The couple made their first home in Siloam Springs while Ralph finished school. They later moved to Glendora, California to teach at Brown School for Girls. In 1959 the couple moved to Wheaton, Illinois and accepted positions at Wheaton Academy where they remained until moving to Brownwood, Texas for Mr. Miller to attend Howard Payne University and receive his Master's degree. While in Brownwood, Nancy worked at the college as a secretary. In 1965 they moved their family to a farm in Burden, Kansas and in 1970, to Winfield where Nancy began teaching at Winfield High School, where she remained until retiring in 1998.

She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church and PEO Chapter HK. She also served as a committee woman for the Cowley County Republican Party. She enjoyed knitting, attending grandchildren's events, watching all types of sporting events and keeping up with past students.

Her family includes:
Her son: Stenn Miller of Burden;
Her daughter: Gretchen Reed of Winfield; and
Her grandchildren: Chase and AnnHeidi Reed.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Ann Miller and her brother, Reverend Paul Stenstrom.

Private interment will be held at Tisdale Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Nancy's name for Cowley County 4H and Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
