MILTON R. "MUTT" REDFORD, 89, of Cambridge, Kansas passed away early Thursday morning, July 8, 2010 at the Kansas Veterans' Home in Winfield.
Born August 2, 1920 in Douglass, Kansas, he was the son of Leslie Ervin and Floria Irene (Armstrong) Redford. He was raised on the family farm near Douglass and graduated from Douglass High School.
He was inducted in the United States Army on September 5, 1942 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and entered active service on September 19 that year. Mutt served as private for 3 months during basic training, and then as corporal for 17 months as a military policeman. He then became sergeant, and was a range instructor for 8 months before serving 12 months as platoon sergeant. Mutt was honorably discharged from the United States Army on February 5, 1946 at Fort Lewis, Washington.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Hoffman on April 28, 1948 at the Methodist Parsonage in Kiowa, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Wichita. They also lived in Harper before making their home in Cambridge. Mutt worked at KT Oil Company out of El Dorado and for Magnolia out of Attica as a young adult. He later made his career as a self-employed rancher. He retired from ranching in 1995.
He was a member of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church as well as the Harper Masonic Lodge #206 in Harper, Kansas. He enjoyed playing pitch and loved fishing.

His daughter: Jean A. Redford of Wichita, Kansas;
His 3 grandchildren: Russ Redford and wife, Jackie; Cathy Shepler and husband, Daniel; and Ron Redford and wife, Missy; and
His 3 great-grandchildren: Rance and Reese Redford and Lucy Shepler.
In addition to his parents, Mutt was preceded in death by his brothers, Red, Wallace, Walt, Raymond and Jeff, and his sisters, Leliah, Irene, and Betty.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Miles Funeral Service. Military Committal Honors will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
Memorials have been established in Mr. Redford's name for Hospice Care of Kansas and for the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
