Mildred "Faye" Sumner, 90, of Burden, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
Born on October 3, 1931, in Caldwell, Kansas, she was the daughter of Bill and Ruth (Bridges) Brown. Faye grew up in Burden. She worked in the horse industry as a trainer, breeder, and showman. She had a love for horses throughout her life. She enjoyed nature and animals. Faye was a talented seamstress and sewed for many families, the local fire department, and school.
She is survived by seven children, Barbara Myles, Jane Courtney, Peggy Bales, William Underwood, Walter Underwood, Ruthe Arie, and Rita Fleming; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. Private burial will take place at Braman Cemetery in Braman, Oklahoma at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Faye's name for Kindred Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
