MIKE G. PHILLIPS, 60, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 in an automobile accident north of Winfield.

Born on July 17, 1950 in Wichita, he was the son of Henry and Orva Lee (Decker) Phillips. He was raised and received his education in Wichita and graduated from South High School in 1969. Following graduation, he worked with his brother as an electrician.

Mike moved to Dodge City, Kansas in 1971 and was employed as a carpenter. In 1999, he moved to Winfield and was employed at the Winfield Correctional Facility as a correctional officer.

He was united in marriage to Debra A. Conklin on July 28, 2003 in Winfield, Kansas. Mike enjoyed fishing, crossstitching, custom woodworking and he loved watching KU basketball.

His step-daughter: Sabrina Anderson of Winfield, KS;
His brother: Sammy Phillips and Nita of Winfield, KS;
His sisters: Diane Perry of Washington; Doris Swortzwood of Wichita, KS; and Pat Fromm and husband Jack of Winfield, KS;
His grandchildren: Chenoa Phillips, Jaeden Phillips, Dominic Fisher and Chandel Conklin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, H.J. Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery west of Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 28, 2010. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Mike's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
