Michelle Leann "Shelly" Davis, 58, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2017 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born September 4, 1959 in Landstuhl, Germany, she was the daughter of Galen and Correne (Kling) Green. She was raised and received her education in Wichita, graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1977.

Shelly was united in marriage to Mark Davis on November 28, 1980 at the Presbyterian Church in Wichita. The couple made their first home in Atlanta, Kansas, before moving to Winfield in 1985. Shelly returned to school at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City and later transferred to Southwestern College in Winfield where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She began her career at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita and worked in several area nursing homes including Winfield Good Samaritan, Winfield Rest Haven and Cumbernauld Village. She specialized in geriatric and psychiatric nursing. In 2008, she retired from nursing because of health concerns.

She was a member of Timber Creek Friends Church and was a Cub Scout Leader. Her passion of caring for others developed at a young age while volunteering as a camp counselor at the Wichita Institute of Logopedics. She enjoyed carving, woodworking, writing poetry and loved music and animals. During their younger years, Shelly and Mark played in country music bands, The Wagon Wheel Express and The Mavericks. She especially enjoyed traveling with her sons and watching their sporting events and taking care of her grandchildren.

Her mother: Correne Green of Wichita;
Her sister: Jill Metzger and husband, Tom of Wichita; and
Her grandchildren: Alexandria Willard, Massey Davis, Sierra Davis, Desiree Shockley, Loggan Davis, Kinley Davis, Karson Davis, Kennison Davis, Neveah Davis, Noah Davis and Riley Davis.

Shelly was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. First Class Jared Davis.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, December 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Timber Creek Cemetery east of Atlanta. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

In lieu of flowers, the memorials may be made to the Shelly Davis Memorial Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
