Obituary

Michael Wacker, 51, of Easy Street in Winfield, Kansas, passed away July 8, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.

Born July 12, 1967 in Winfield, he was the son of Paul Henry and Mary Anna (McElroy) Wacker. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1986. He then attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City. Following school, Michael went to work as a Graphic Designer at Gary Smith Engineering in Arkansas City.

Michael married Tammy Edwards on July 22, 1989 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. To this union, a daughter was born. The couple later divorced.

Michael continued his career as a Graphic Designer at Webster Engineering, where he received his certification in Information Technology. He continued with Webster in the IT Department until 2006 when he took the same position for CornerBank. He was currently working in the IT Department for RCB Bank in Winfield.

Michael was very active in the Winfield community and served as a volunteer with the Isle of Lights and Habitat for Humanity. Michael was the best of guys and was always there with a helping hand or a kind word. In addition to his love of bacon, Michael enjoyed a life full of sarcasm and had a knack for being inappropriate at the most appropriate times.

His family includes his daughter Nicole Ferguson and husband, Jesse of Arkansas City; his step-son Donnie Miller of Grenola; his best friend Jennifer Passiglia of Winfield; the love of his life Christine Salomon of Winfield; his mother Mary Wacker of Winfield; his siblings, Becky Waldorf and husband, Rick of Winfield; Paula Kane and husband, Stephen of Kansas City, MO; Carol Stucki and husband, Robert of Clarksville, TN; John Wacker and wife, Jennifer of Rose Hill; his grandchildren, Ethan and Chloe Ferguson of Arkansas City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wacker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. Private interment will take place at a later date. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Thursday evening, July 11, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Michael Wacker Memorial Fund to benefit the Winfield Isle of Lights. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
