Michael R. Schadegg, 64, of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, February 24, 2017 at his home.
Born August 3, 1952 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Robert and Delores (McNair) Schadegg. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict Era. Following his honorable discharge, he hitchhiked around the United States to see what he fought for. He worked as a dishwasher and later as a fry cook for Mortons Steak House. He continued to work for his grandfather, Rex Morton, off and on for many years.
Michael was united in marriage to Paulette Jones on June 6, 1981. To this union, a son, Shane Michaels, was born in 1983. Shane preceded him in death. Michael enjoyed metal detecting, gardening, landscaping and landscape artistry.

Numerous relatives and friends.
In addition to his son, Shane, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert, brother, Robert and grandparents, John McNair and Rex and Ruth Morton.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Stalter Cemetery east of Rock, Kansas. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Michael's name for the Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
