Obituary

MICHAEL CURNUTT, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at the South Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.

Born July 23, 1947 in Eureka, Kansas, he was the son of Bud and Margaret (Evanson) Curnutt. He was raised and received his education in Eureka. Michael was united in marriage to Janice Carpenter on May 14, 1973 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Eureka, and moved to Belle Plaine in 1976. They spent 12 years in Belle Plaine before making their home in the Winfield area.

Michael was a truck driver and a mechanic. He owned his own mechanic shop for a short time. He was forced to retire in 2006 due to his declining health. He enjoyed CB radios, guns and hunting and loved to fish. He especially enjoyed his dog, Chewy.

His family includes:

His wife: Janice Curnutt of the home;

His daughters: Melissa Clark of Arkansas City; Janet Kenemore and husband, Kevin of Winfield;

His sons: Larry Widener and wife, Donna of Arkansas City; Scott Widener and wife, Stephanie of Arkansas City;

His step-daughters: Susan Landsaw and husband, Blaine Evans of Winfield; and Sherri Dunbar of Winfield;

His sister: Betty Belden of Vancouver, WA; and

Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kathy Thurber.

The family will hold private inurnment services at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established to help Michael's family with miscellaneous expenses they have incurred. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
