Melba Lucille Foote, 99, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away, early Thursday morning, June 15, 2023, at her home.

Born April 8, 1924, in Macksville, Kansas, she was the daughter of Frank and Minnie Mae (Smith) Barnett.  She moved to Winfield in 1944 and was united in marriage to Henry Carl Foote on March 3, 1945, in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  She and Henry made their home in Winfield where Melba was a child care provider.  Henry preceded her in death on February 1, 1995.

Melba was a Christian woman.  She enjoyed reading, making clothes, and listening to music.  She loved vegetable gardening and raising chickens.

Her family includes her daughter Carolyn Harp of Winfield; her grandson Ray, Jr.; and her great grandchildren, Chloe and Aubree.

In addition to her parents and husband, Melba was preceded in death by her son Virgil Ray Foote, Sr., brother Virgil Barnett, sister Jean Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
