MAXINE (FEASTER) ANDES, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village.
Born December 25, 1917 in the Tisdale area, she was the daughter of Guy and Clara (Moore) Feaster. At the age of 12, Maxine's mother died. Guy remarried to Zephyr Wallace who accepted Maxine as her own and helped to raise her. Maxine was raised and educated in the Tisdale and Prairie Ridge areas and later in Arkansas City.
Maxine worked at Feasters Groceries through World War II. She also worked at Posie Greenhouse. She was united in marriage to Raymond Walter Andes on August 26, 1935 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield. Maxine made her career as a housewife and homemaker. Mr. Andes preceded her in death on March 18, 1993.
Mrs. Andes was a 70 year member of the First Christian Church in Winfield. She was also a 50 year member of Queen City Chapter 138 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking and loved sewing and was an avid gardener. Her favorite flower was the Iris. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her grandchildren: Debra Starkey and husband, Tom; Susan Mayes and husband, Jim; and Brett Butler and wife, Mary;
Her great-grandchildren: Shannon Shilling, Brandon Starkey, Jessica Butler and Zach Butler; and
Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her step-mother, Zephyr Feaster, and four brothers, Neal, Doyle, Wallace and Gerald Feaster.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, December 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 P.M.
Memorials have been established in Maxine's name for the First Christian Church and for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
