MARY CATHERINE WELLER, 56, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, November 5, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village.

Born on February 6, 1952, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Henry O. and Martha (Torrence) Goodaile. She was raised and educated in the Winfield area. On November 8, 1986, Mary Catherine was united in marriage to Richard D. Weller, III at the First Methodist Church in Winfield. Mary lived in Blackwell, Oklahoma and Louisiana, but made her home in Winfield.

She worked as a housekeeper, welder, truck driver and a bartender. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was also involved with the Cowley County Humane Society and the Muscular Sclerosis Foundation. She enjoyed poetry, reading her bible, listening to music and singing and loved Native American art. She also enjoyed making snow angels and taking in strays. She loved to rescue birds.

Her son-in-law: Michael Miller;
Her brother: Timothy Henry Goodaile and wife, Jean of Wichita;
Her sister: Betty Rose Reed and husband, Bob of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Michelle, Michael, Melisha, Kayce, Sam, Tony, Phylicia, Candice, Damian, Zachary, Dakota, Brogan, Tara and Jase; and
Grandma Anna Munson.

In addition to her parents, Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her son, Zachariah Cross, her daughter, Mandy Rose Cross, her son-in-law, Tom Battles, and her sisters, Lola Mae Neal and Luetta Goodaile (Hindman).

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time. Private family inurnment will take place at later date.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Weller's name for the MS Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
