MARY E. STURM, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, October 8, 2015 at Galachia Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Born on September 6, 1932 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of George and Mary Merle (Smith) Hoover. She was raised and received her education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1950.
She was united in marriage to Billy J. Sturm on March 1, 1953 in Winfield where the couple made their home. Mary was a fulltime homemaker. She worked for Dr. Depoe and later the Cowley County Clerk's Office for 22 years. Bill preceded her in death on March 15, 2011.
Mary was a member of the Rock United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, puzzle books, watching sports on television and traveling to casinos.

Her son: Steven Sturm and wife Susan of New Salem, KS;
Her daughter: Marsha Smith of Winfield, KS;
Her grandsons: Danny Archer and wife Jamie, Travis Fouch and wife Krysten, and Josh Fouch all of Winfield, KS;
Her granddaughter: Stephanie Sturm;
Her great-grandsons: Jacob & Ethan Archer, and Jaylen, Jayden and Andre Fouch.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amy Archer; her brothers, Jerry and Maurice Hoover, and her sister, Lenore Holt.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service. Private inurnment will follow. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Mary's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
