Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Mary "Cuca" Carrillo Snetsinger, a devoted mother, Bean Bean, MeMaw and cherished friend, who passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Mary was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her kindness to all who knew her, and her dedication to making the world a better place.
Born in Winfield, KS on July 4, 1943, she was the daughter of EG and Savina (Gutierrez) Carrillo. Mary attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Winfield High School in 1963. After completing her education, she married the love of her life, Charlie Snetsinger, on April 12th, 1967, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield, Kansas. As a proud Marine wife, Mary stood by Charlie's side through the challenges of military life, offering her love, strength, and support during his service. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage.
Mary's strength of character and infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone around her. Whether she was sharing laughter with loved ones or offering a listening ear, her presence was a comforting constant. Known for her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor, Mary's love for her family was unmatched. As a mother, grandmother, and friend, she made those around her feel cherished and supported, always putting the needs of others above her own.
Mary was deeply proud of her Mexican heritage and loved sharing it with others, particularly through cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where she delighted in preparing traditional Mexican dishes for family, friends, and neighbors. Her delicious meals were a reflection of her culture, and her generosity in sharing them brought people together and made them feel like family.
A woman of deep faith, Mary's Catholic beliefs were the foundation of her life. She was a faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she found strength and comfort in her relationship with God. She believed in the power of prayer, attended Mass regularly, and found joy in living a life that reflected her faith and devotion. Her commitment to her faith inspired those around her, and her example of grace, love, and humility will continue to guide her family and friends.
In addition to being a loving homemaker, Mary devoted her life to helping others through her work. She served as a chiropractic assistant to Dr. Nida, worked at the State Hospital, and was a lunch lady at USD 465 Middle School and for Holy Name Catholic School, where her cheerful smile brightened many students' days. She also cared for the elderly, cleaned houses, and provided daycare, always going above and beyond to ensure others were well cared for.
Outside of her work and devotion to family, Mary had many hobbies that brought her joy. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, where she found fulfillment in serving her community. Music was another passion—she adored watching musicals, listening to her beloved Mariachi music, and dancing to her favorite tunes. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, having girl's day, family suppers and celebrating each other.
Mary's nurturing spirit and selfless dedication to others made her an irreplaceable presence in her community. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness.
