MARY LOU SMITH, 63, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, June 18, 2015 at her home.
Born on February 19, 1952 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Bobby Gene and Willa Dean (Wedd) Martin. She attended school in Ralston, Oklahoma and later Winfield, where she graduated from Winfield High School in 1970. Mary also attended and graduated from Cowley County Community College.
She was united in marriage to David Smith on August 15, 1970 in Winfield. She had been employed at McClellan's, Smith Sanitation and Machine Works, and Cessna Aircraft. Mary was employed at General Electric for 33 years as an engine mechanic, retiring on August 1, 2014.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, flowers especially rose bushes and Wal-Mart. Mary actively participated in Relay for Life events.

Her sister-in-laws: Kathy and Terry Witte of Oxford, KS; and Hwaok Smith of Wichita, KS;
Her brother-in-law: Carl and Margie Smith of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Taylor (Smith) and Kyle Tatro, Erica Smith & Joey Pool, and Eli & Ellie Samms; and
Her great-grandchild: Brinley Tatro.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Dwayne Martin; in-laws, Chester & Norma Smith; and brother-in-laws, Richard, Bob and Kevin Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 22, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, June 21, 2015. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M., that afternoon.
A memorial has been established in Mary's name for Relay for Life. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
