Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Sleight, 94, of Winfield, went to join the Lord, Saturday morning, May 24, 2008.

Born on November 5, 1913, on a farm in rural Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of John and Laura (Wade) Anglemyer. She was raised and educated in Winfield.

She was married to Raymond Davidson and to that union three children were born. The couple later divorced. On February 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clarence A. Sleight in Girard, Kansas. The couple lived in Wichita, where Mary worked for Boeing. In 1975 she retired and moved to Winfield.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield.

Her hobbies included sewing, making ceramic dolls, and crafts. Mary enjoyed reading, playing games with her family, and cooking for her family, especially big Thanksgiving dinners. She was an inspiration to her friends, neighbors, and family.

Her family includes:
Her daughters: Sirelda Gallaway of Texas; Raydena Coffman and husband, Raymond of Derby; Betty McComb and James Richardson of Texas;
Her step-son: Jack Slate of Kansas;
Her brother: Joe Anglemyer and wife, Verona of Winfield; and
Her 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Donald Dean Davidson, her two sisters, Emma Baucom and Elsie Royse, her brother, Forrest Anglemyer, and her son-in-law, Jimmie Gallaway.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 2:00P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-9. The family will greet visitors from 5-7.
