MARY K. SLADE, 99, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, April 16, 2008 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born on January 21, 1909 in Aline, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of George and Mattie Kate (Kelly) Elliott. She was raised and received her education in Aline, Oklahoma.

She was united in marriage on January 16, 1926 to Boyd Slade in Fairview, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Stafford County where they farmed. To this union, seven children were born. The couple farmed until 1965 when they retired and moved to Enid, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Winfield in 1986 and Mr. Slade preceded her in death in 1987.

Mary enjoyed her family, decorating, gardening, quilting and traveling. She was a member of the Followers of Christ Church in Enid, Oklahoma.

Her sons: Le Claire Slade and wife Jeanne of Morrison, CO; Ronnie Slade and wife Dina of Ventura, CA; Boyd Slade and wife Kathy of Austin, TX;
Her daughters: Lou Webb of Pointe Hueneme, CA; Kay Slade of Oxnard, CA; Karen Schifferdecker and husband Don of Winfield, KS; and Jolene Montgomery of Olathe, KS;
Her sister: Artie Jones of St. John, KS;
Her brother: Dale Elliott of Aline, OK;
Her 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and her son-in-laws, Ron Webb and Max Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 21, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, April 20, 2008.

A memorial has been established in Mary's name for Winfield Rest Haven. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
