Mary Olson, 65, of Burden, Kansas, joined her nephew Emmitt Olson in Heaven on May 18, 2018.

Born August 18, 1952 in Wellington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Melvin LeRoy and Shirley Lou (Honeycutt) Olson. She was raised and received her early education in Cambridge, Kansas, before moving to Burden, Kansas to attend high school. After school she enjoyed traveling, living all over the country, including Florida.

In 1991 while living in Winfield, Kansas, she met the love of her life, Mitchell Sutton. The couple moved to Burden in 1992 where Mary was a devoted homemaker. She loved to cook and worked for a short time as a dietician at area nursing homes. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In addition to cooking she also enjoyed fishing and dancing.

Her family includes her companion Mitch Sutton of Burden; her daughter Samantha Dargle of Montana; her brothers, Everett Olson and wife, Vikki of Albuquerque, NM; Lewis Olson and wife, Gloria of Wichita; her sisters, Annette Olson and husband, Steve of New York; Alice Olson and husband, Mike Haywood of New York; Yvonne Popovich of Florida; and her five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Olson and Eric Olson, and a nephew, Emmitt Olson.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Mary's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
