MARY S. MOUNCE, 78, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, June 9, 2012 at the Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Born on March 29, 1934 in McAlester, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Bill and Dolly (Martin) Marshall. She was raised and received her education in Crowder, Oklahoma. As a young teenager, Mary played the piano for the Assembly of God Church in Crowder, where she met her future husband Montie Mounce.

The couple were united in marriage in 1959 at the Assembly of God Church in Crowder. They purchased a café and game room which they operated for several years. Mary helped her husband who was a brick mason. They retired in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Mr. Mounce preceded her in 1992.

Mary was a member of the Lake Side Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, attending church and music, especially singing and playing the piano. Mary also loved bluegrass and gospel music. She loved people and never met a stranger.

Her extended family: Dale Haggard, David Haggard, Douglas Hammonds, Dione Hammonds, Mark Hammonds, Colby Hammonds, Susan Kaats, Casey Hall, Cody Jenkens, Taylor Jenkens, Kevin Haggard, Jennifer Haggard and David Haggard
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A visitation will be held at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Crowder Cemetery in Crowder, Oklahoma under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.
