Obituary

MARY MARGARETTE "MARGIE" VAUGHTERS, 80, of Derby, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, January 24, 2014 at the Harry Hynes Hospice Center at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Born on December 23, 1933 in Garnett, Kansas, she was the daughter of Clarence and Virginia Maxine (Chapman) Axtell. She was raised and received her education in Garnett. Mary was employed at several places including the Osawatomie State Hospital where she was a nurses aide. During the mid 1960's she lived in Seattle, Washington and worked for Boeing Aircraft. She returned to Kansas where she continued working for Boeing and worked as a mechanic and in parts control.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Vaughters on September 4, 1967 in Wichita. The couple made their home IN Derby and she retired from Boeing in 1992.

Margie was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Atlanta. Margie was also a member of the Air Capitol Carnival Glass Club, the Red Hat ladies in Atlanta and the Garden Club in Atlanta. She was a avid outdoors enthusiast and loved camping, flowers, gardening, hunting, fishing, and collecting carnival glass and antiques.

Her sons: Ronald Dale Vaughters and wife Sharon of Wichita, KS; Steven Ray Ferguson and wife Rosemary of Conway, AR; Steve R. Vaughters and wife Julie of Belle Plaine, KS; and Michael Wayne Vaughters of Wichita, KS;
Her daughters: Terry Luton of Marysville, WA; Connie Smith and husband Harry of Haysville, KS; Patti Ream and husband Mark of Piedmont, OK; and Trudy Weide and husband Tim of Rose Hill, KS;
Her sisters: Deloris Barr and husband Jim of Wichita, KS; and Wilma Gorley and husband Clyde of Longview, WA; and
Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stillborn daughter, Katherine; and her sister, Jeanie Axtell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Atlanta. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

Memorials have been established in Mary's name for the Cornerstone Christian Church and the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
