Mary Elizabeth Hunt, 100, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, August 6, 2023, at her home.
Born July 10, 1923, in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of Hodoran and Mary (Murdoch) Spry. She was raised and received her early education in Norfolk before moving with her family to Miami, Florida, where she graduated high school.
She was married to Roy Endicott and the couple had two children, Gary and Sharon. Mary worked in Civil Service at the Norfolk Navy Base during WWII. The couple later divorced.
Mary worked for a number of years as a waitress until working as an Office Clerk with AARP Senior Employment Service, retiring in 1994. On September 10, 1994, she was united in marriage to Clarence Neil Hunt in Norfolk, Virginia. The couple made their home in Winfield where they were active members of the First Baptist Church. Neil preceded her in death on October 2, 2011.
Her family includes her daughter Sharon Ortloff of Winfield; and her grandchildren, Eric Ortloff, Kevin Ortloff, Matthew Endicott, and Gretchen Endicott.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son Gary Eugene Endicott, brothers, Russell A. Spry and Gordon E. Spry, and a sister Rosalyn Virginia Midgett.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 11, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Peru Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Mary's name to defray expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
