Obituary

Mary Louise Doolittle, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, September 22, 2018 at her home.

Born January 15, 1950 in Long Beach, California, she was the daughter of Marion Edward and Dorthy (Chamble) June. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City, Kansas.

She married Dennis Burns in 1967 in Arkansas City where the couple made their home. During this time, she attended and graduated from Cowley County School of Cosmetology. Following graduation, she began her career as a cosmetologist working in several area beauty salons. Mary and Dennis had two children and later divorced.

She was united in marriage to William "Roy" Doolittle on July 18, 1988 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Udall where she continued her career, retiring in 2006. Mr. Doolittle preceded her in death on January 7, 2007.

She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her family includes her daughter Cari Crowe and husband, David of Winfield; her son James Burns and wife, Nicole of Haysville; her sister Edna May Smyer and husband, Greg of Arkansas City; her brother Harvey June of Arkansas City; her 8 grandchildren, Darci, Brandi, Brandon, Devin, Bree, Alyssa, Shyane, T.J.; and her 11 great grandchildren, Michael Scott, Logan James, Kyra, Andra, Lillieanne, Jolynn, Dakota, Blake, Amerin, Isaac, and Wyatt.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Edward "Mike" June, Jr.

A reception will be held on Friday evening, September 28, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors during this time. A private family burial will take place at Wilmot Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Mary's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
