Marvin James McMinn, 92, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Winfield Senior Living.
Born January 26, 1932, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of DJ and Edith (Smith) McMinn. He was raised and received his education in Burden, graduating from Burden High School in 1949.
Marvin was united in marriage to Lula Mae Bourne on June 11, 1949. The couple made their home in Burden where Marvin owned and operated McMinn Service for a number of years. He then transitioned into full-time farming and ranching, which he enjoyed for his entire life. He was an avid baseball fan, especially of the St. Louis Cardinals. Marvin and Lula enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Ireland, Jamaica, Hawaii, and Alaska. They often spent winters in Florida and went on several cruises. Lula preceded him in death on April 6, 2024.
His family includes his sons, Donald McMinn; Bradley McMinn and wife, Sheila; his daughter Marva McMinn Blair and husband, Harvey; his brother-in-law Chester Powell; his grandchildren, Mardi McMinn; Dori Lendvay and husband, Mike; Tiffani Wooten and husband, Ronny; Zachery Blair and wife, Tara; Michelle Wunderlich and husband, Jered; Shad McMinn; Travis McMinn and wife, Lindsey; Cassie Cobas and husband, Pete; his 19 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Jeanine McMinn and a granddaughter-in-law Becky McMinn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 27, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Burden under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Marvin's name for the First Baptist Church of Burden. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
