Obituary

MARVIN DAN LEAVELL, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, December 21, 2008. He spent his last precious hours surrounded by family that loved him.

He was born January 7, 1957, in Winfield, Kansas. He was the son of Albert E. "Bud" and Alma M. (Cales) Leavell. He was raised and educated in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. At the age of 16, Marvin went to work for Davis Floral and continued to work there until he became employed with Winfield Floral. He stayed there for 17 years, until becoming part owner. Afterwards, Marvin briefly worked for Schuster's Landscaping until he opened his own business, Paradise Gardens. It was not until his health failed him, that Marvin was forced to give up landscaping.

Marvin battled Diabetes his entire life and was on dialysis for close to a decade. Despite his constant suffering, Marvin enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a passion for landscaping, bulldogs, and, of coarse, his friends and family. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield.

His family includes:
His mother: Alma Leavell of Winfield;
His brother: Marcus Leavell and wife, Kathy of Ponca City, OK;
His nephew: Chad Leavell and wife, Sarah, and their children, Jake and Meredith all of Tulsa, OK; and
Many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Leavell, and his grandparents, Bob and Mae Dyer and George and Laura Leavell.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established in Marvin's name for the First Christian Church, the First United Methodist Church of Wichita, and for the Davita Dialysis Center of Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
