Obituary

Marvin R. Keasling, 83, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, April 1, 2019 at Wellington Health and Rehab.

Born May 1, 1935 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Wesley and Juanita (Rhine) Keasling. He was raised on a farm west of Winfield and received his education in Winfield.

Marvin was united in marriage to Linda Shorter on August 2, 1954. The couple made their home in Winfield where Marvin worked at the flour mill. He later worked as a steel fabricator at Smith & Moon until going to work for the county. Marvin continued with the Road Department for the county until he retired in 2001. The couple then moved north of Arkansas City. Linda preceded him in death on September 13, 2015.

Marvin and Linda served as co-presidents for the North Central District Federation Association of Square Dancing. He was a member of K&O Steam and Gas Engine Association. He enjoyed camping, traveling, farming, and spending time with his grandchildren.

His family includes his son David Keasling of Douglass; his daughter Gail Burkett and husband, Dennis of Arkansas City; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hill and husband, Derek of Arkansas City; Jeff Burkett of Ponca City, OK; Tristan Trester and husband, Chad of Dexter; and his great grandchildren, Bryson Trester, Owen and Bailey Jackson, and Wren Hill.

In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Milton and Linda Lovette.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 5, 2019 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery Northwest of Winfield. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening, April 4, 2019 from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors at that time.

A memorial has been established in Marvin's name for the K&O Steam and Gas Engine Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
